"Izzy" is a creature somewhere between angel, demon, human & "other" who was created for one purpose: Izzy is in service as head executioner of humankind within The Legion of No. This is no rehashed story of angels, demons, or ghosts (although I want the audience to think that at certain points), this story has nothing to do with any of those ideas. Apocalypse Near takes place in it's own dimension from which these characters interact with humankind to create a story to inspire people to become environmental heroes.

A tragic figure, IZZY sadly goes about the murderous work. Izzy is little more than a minion. He is programmed to delegate & execute human extinction via remote control from aboard a platform orbiting earth. Izzy is a very complex character in terms of his genesis & the dimension he works through, but giving away that information here would ruin the enjoyment of the sequential unfolding of the story, so you'll have to read the book, screenplay or see the movie if you want to know that.
