Log line:
This Spaghetti-Western inspired suspense thriller follows a mysterious drifter downloading justice to planet earth.

   We encounter this atypical drifter having a seizure after waking under a highway overpass. An emergency surgery stops a brain bleed, but the unidentified man returns from clinical death an amnesiac. During recovery he claims that information necessary to save earth from imminent environmental collapse has been downloaded to his brain via a supernatural data-stream. He requests a laptop & doctors allow him to post his writings to the web in hopes of finding his identity. His REVELutionary writings attract an army of colorful comrades who join him on comedic "REFORMance Art" attacks intended to save earth by enlightening all humans. He is met by sinister creatures composed of dark matter who plot to "save" earth's environment by killing all humans. If the hero wins everyone's enlightened; if the villain wins everyone's a murder victim.. Is he having paranoid hallucinations from brain damage, or is earth being invaded by shadowy creatures determined to erase humankind? Read the message we intercepted from the creature pictured below & decide for yourself.

"We are 0-bits; creatures composed entirely of dark matter (the zero or "off" bits in binary code). We may appear as shapeshifting shadows if you see us at all, but more likely, you will never see us coming and you will never know what hit you. We are interdimensional surgeons come to extract the cancer called humanity from earth so that the planet may recover from your parasitic infection. We will delete you completely from the universal hard drive. We are the good guys, humans, the bad. We only wear black hats because they look good on us. Now, just go back to watching your teleez & shopping at the mall. That's right human, keep on buying, keep on die-ing. By killing your environment you are killing yourselves & doing our work for us.. Apocalypse Near: Brief Treatment
    Dateline- 2007: Earth on the brink of ecological collapse. What humans don't know are the details behind their imminent extinction. Although it's widely held that environmental destruction is the result of human error, they have actually been under attack by creatures composed of dark matter who have coded & installed a suicide program into the human neural network. These shadow creatures stand on verge of murdering all humans without ever being noticed; except by one: An unidentified drifter found sleeping under an overpass.

    Is he a new sheriff in town? A new kind of human? Or is he just plain nuts? It may be that he is among the first to receive an upgrade to the human operating system. He has been downloaded to earth by the source of the human operating system in an attempt to reboot humanity & get them to harmonize with their life support system (earth). The human operating system source resembles a supernova and is enemy of the source of dark matter. The dark-matter source is the 'blackest' of black holes. It emits the creatures now in position to murder every human; except the few female specimens they wish to keep for their pleasures.

   The hero has the upgrade, but there are problems. In addition to earth's crashing environment & the dark alliance poised to delete humans, the upgrade the hero received contains bugs. Can he convince others to join his quest to reverse the crashing environment & prepare to fight the ultimate battle between photons & dark matter; bits & bytes? In the binary coded "Multiverse" where Apocalypse Near takes place, reality bytes.

  The hero, & the audience must decipher whether or not this evil alliance is real, or paranoid delusion resulting from brain injury. For that matter, the audience must decipher whether the entire film is nothing more than the product of the hero's injured brain. Meanwhile, the fate of earth hangs in the balance. All this occurs amidst a love / lust story of epic proportions. What tempts "E" toward the evil side of the line? A woman, of course. What is the only thing that can bring him back? THE woman, of course.. Not just any woman , but a muse who wanders his dream world seeking to mate with his soul.
  

Apocalypse Near is a film that integrates documentary acts of environmental protest seamlessly in the film's fictional tale, because ultimately, the fate of the earth is the mission of this film.

The clip below is a shot of one of the the front line soldiers in the invading dark-matter "Legion of NO". This is an "0-Bit" They are composed of dark matter zero bits. Each "0-Bit" is programmed for the murder of an individual human, so there is one "0-Bit" generated for every human on earth, including YOU!

Your obituary is already coded. Your death is in the queue. How do you defend against a killer you can't see? How do you kill creatures made of information? How do you know that their information particles are not programming you to help them kill you? The answer is that you don't. Part of the Legion's mission is to trick you into working for them without your knowledge. Earth's environment is collapsing because they have already invaded the brains of most humans & made them into members of what they call The DeathCULT. The output of the DeathCULT is the DeathCULTure. This is the culture that makes you want to buy a Hummer & chop down forests for toilet paper. Are you an unwitting member of the DeathCULT? Are you a weapon of mass destruction?

Business Plan Treatment:
“Apocalypse Near” is a feature film trilogy & interactive media collection offering multiple opportunities & a new business model for packaging & marketing feature films on several platforms.

   Part one is a suspense thriller amidst a love story that is interrupted by moments of intense psychological terror & black comedy . The subsequent films will be partly marketed via an existing web site that crosses boundaries between ongoing environmental protest events & the narrative itself. The film’s story continues on the web site where guided activities will create more interactive media for release with the sequels. This immersive, convergent, communal activity will build the audience as stake-holders in the outcome of the story itself as it also promotes the sequels.

    It’s rare for a feature film to tell a story of epic proportions without requiring an epic budget. "Apocalypse Near" tells the story of a literal battle between light & darkness in a new way while staying true to the standard 3-act story structure that modern audiences are accustomed to. The film also offers deeper layers that will make inquisitive viewers want to view it repeatedly. Apocalypse Near is a film that can play Peoria as well as a theater of film historians. The structure of the narrative & the film's groundbreaking use of seamlessly integrated documentary should get critics talking & film theorists writing it into film school textbooks. "Apocalypse Near" will create a new genre of filmmaking ("Hyper-Reality") while helping to change earth's environmental situation for the better.

 

SALES PLAN: The first markets for this film are the festival circuits. I will personally tour the film to secure distribution & funding for the SEQUELS ( the trilogy of screenplays is complete) The sequels are bigger budget films. Part three literally ends where all conspiracy theories collide. The Dadaist tone of the first film would be out of place in the final story. Think "Dune" meets Fellini's "Satyricon".

I've also created a business model for the interactive cross marketing of other films & products embodied in “Apocalypse Near”: Viewers interact with this media in the DVD release of the film. I believe my “Synergy Pax” packaging concept can increase sales across the motion picture & music industry. I will provide a copy of this plan to interested investors.


I’ve also written a spin-off T. V. series incorporating the philosophy behind this film & some of the characters which can be included in this package.

 

Preliminary lead cast members:

• Gen: - as mAlice. Gen's a rockstar in the industrial metal underground who would pretty much be playing herself as the "Dr. Dakin / mAlice" role mirrors her real life in many ways. Gen has scheduling conflicts in the Fall because she'll be on world tour for the new Genitorturers record. The mAlice part isn't huge, so we will shoot around her, but my eye would be open to others if she can't take on the role.

• Curse Mackey as "Lieftenant Smithey". Curse is also an underground cyberpunk rockstar who tours a lot with Pigface, but the "Smithey" part isn't large so he can commit to it.

 

• Eugenie Bondurant - as Marie Lechevalier (Eugenie is interested but unconfirmed until she clears her schedule & gets final script approval for her character, which I welcome. She's a brilliant person, wonderful actress & acting coach.

• E: as "E", Kernel Kurse & Adam Groom. As this film is also what I'm calling an "Autobio-pic" I'm playing myself as well as the villain. Part of the crux of the story is the idea that the entire film may actually only be a paranoid delusion within the brain of the hero. This is why the villain & hero must be played by the same actor using different makeup, wardrobe & vocal inflection. Additionally, there is the true story behind this film that we will use to promote it. After all, I was the guy dead on an operating table from a brain hemorrhage.

• Mikee Plastik - as Izzy

I have one more actress of note interested in the film, but I haven't screen tested her & haven't asked permission to use her name in the project yet. I'm assessing her acting talents, but I'll tell you this: You & the vast majority of Americans know her last name. She's got a very famous showbiz granddad. Could add lots of value to the package if her acting is up to speed.

Those are the major roles I've cast

I'm leaving the director chair open. If I don't find a bankable director or at least someone as good as me for the task, then I'd direct it. I'd rather find someone & concentrate on the acting, but if not, I'm up to the task. I want to do whatever is best for the film & the safety of my investors' interests.. But mostly, I need to protect the intent of this film, which is to inspire everyday people to act heroically toward saving our environment. As this film was very much given to me during my near death experience, it is my duty to protect this intent. These films wrote themselves through me. I am only an instrument trying to deliver them. The intent is for this trilogy to form a mythology to inspire people to behave morally toward our living biosphere. I hope you will join me in this effort, because we are all in this together.
